Rasa Yoga in my life

What is Rasa Yoga and how is it different from other types of Yoga? I am often asked this question – so where to begin …

“Rasa Yoga weaves together asana, mantra, mudra, pranayama, meditation and chanting… along with tantra, shadow work, ritual, and a deep reverence for nature. It honours the many traditions and lineages of yoga, while awakening your authentic creativity as an individual in the modern world.”

I took the first Rasa Yoga 300-hour TT course in Berlin with Sianna in 2015 and it was my pleasure to assist her on a TT course in Bali in 2019. This was the most transformational time of my life. My journey in yoga began in 2007 when I was still working as a Head Chef in one of the top hotels near Heathrow Airport. I turned to yoga to escape the stressful job, to exercise my muscles and to rest my mind.

I met Sianna Sherman in 2014 at Triyoga Soho where she was running an advanced workshop for teachers and I immediately had a strong connection with her teachings and her ethos. I followed her and I signed up for the TT course in Berlin.

For me, Rasa Yoga was the awakening of my spiritual journey and it still helps me to deepen my knowledge and my Asana practice. The use of Mantra awakens my authentic voice, Mudras help me to connect with the elements and Biomechanics gives me an understanding of anatomy and physiology which have also helped to manage a knee injury I suffered (before meeting Sianna in 2014) as a result of running and for which I later had surgery.

Rasa Yoga transforms my spiritual discipline (Sadhana) and helps me to understand and rediscover my truest nature, my dharma and my purpose in life. Rasa Yoga helped me overcome my fears and my shadows, it helped me to welcome them instead of running away from them. It helped me understand the true meaning of life and how I can be of service to humanity and honour Mother Earth.

I am so grateful to Sianna Sherman for her authenticity and for holding a space for me and for guiding me on this journey and for enabling me to lead my own 200-hour Rasa Yoga Teacher Training Course in 2020.
